How to check your Apple Account country or region
An Apple Gift Card can only be redeemed on an Apple Account whose country or region matches the card. Checking takes less than a minute.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Media & Purchases, then View Account. You may be asked to sign in.
- Look at Country/Region. This is the country to choose when you buy a card.
On a Mac
- Open the App Store app and click your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Click Account Settings and sign in if asked.
- Look at Country/Region.
What if it does not match where I live?
Your Apple Account country is not always the country you live in today: it is the one chosen when the account was created or last changed. Always buy the card for the country shown in your account settings.
Apple lets you change the country or region of an account, but it has conditions, such as using or cancelling your remaining store credit and subscriptions and having a valid payment method for the new country. Read Apple’s instructions carefully before changing it, and do not change it only to use a gift card unless you understand the consequences. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering.
Why it matters
If you redeem a code on an account set to a different country or region, Apple will refuse it. Because digital codes cannot be refunded once delivered, please check before you pay. See our refund policy.
